Science Fiction and the Future
Description:
This unit uses 20 science fiction short stories to expose students to the concepts of future and change. During the course of the unit, students will be encouraged to think about their own futures and the effects of change upon their lives; predict possible alternatives for the future; and to examine themes of adventure, family, relationships, and technology and our responsibility to technology and change. This unit is aimed at gifted 7th graders, but can be adapted for regular classrooms as well.
