Describing Variability of Organisms – Grade Eight
Describing Variability of Organisms – Grade Eight
Description:
This lesson uses life-science content to help students understand the difference between observations and predictions. After practicing observations and predictions in the pre-assessment, students will explore variability in a real sample of organisms. Using measurement tools, student groups will construct histograms demonstrating variability in small samples of organisms. Students then will compare their histograms and observe how consolidating their data into one large data set affects the frequency distribution. Students then will predict how the frequency distribution might change given different sets of environmental
pressures.
