Weather and The Water Cycle – Grade Seven
Weather and The Water Cycle – Grade Seven
Description:
In this unit, students learn about water and the weather. During the course of this unit, students will learn how the water cycle functions and how it is related to our weather. Students will make weather observations, use their data to learn about weather phenomena and understand how weather maps are constructed. The lessons employ cooperative learning opportunities, games, homework and student presentations. This variety of instructional strategies helps students take more active roles in their learning.

Conforms To
9. Describe the connection between the water cycle and weather-related phenomenon (e.g., tornadoes, floods, droughts and hurricanes).
Conforms To
2. Explain that Earth's capacity to absorb and recycle materials naturally (e.g., smoke, smog and sewage) can change the environmental quality depending on the length of time involved (e.g. global warming).
Conforms To
3. Describe the water cycle and explain the transfer of energy between the atmosphere and hydrosphere.
Conforms To
5. Make simple weather predictions based on the changing cloud types associated with frontal systems.
Conforms To
