Grizzly Survival

Description:
Lewis and Clark's journals include detailed references to a “monstrous beast” which they designated as the brown, yellow, white, or variegated bear. We now know them as grizzly bears. In this lesson, students will develop a greater appreciation for the role that humans play in preserving grizzlies and their habitat. The Lewis and Clark expedition lead to an increase in human settlements, resulting in a decrease in the grizzly population.
