This lesson’s aim is to examine “The Dynasty of Communism”, the lives of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and their control over North Korea. It will focus on what is known about their lives, and what we know about North Korea today. It will facilitate a discussion on how North Korea has accomplished a dynasty, something that no other Communist, or democratic nation has done. One aspect of this lesson involves the students making the connection about how isolated North Korea is from the modern world; even the basic facts about its leader are manipulated for political reasons. And as interconnected we are in this global environment, isolation is still possible, but with what effects?
