Developed for students in middle and high school, this unit will assist visually impaired and blind students in their efforts to explore, analyze, and enjoy all types of art. The unit will concentrate on the design and construction of chairs produced in the Colonial and Federal periods in America. It will explore the changes in the style of chairs manufactured during this era. In particular, it will help students explore the political, social, and economic factors that influence furniture design.
