Clockwise/Counterclockwise Math

Description:
The purpose of this activity is to teach the concept of moving in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction and to tell time using addition and subtraction. Make a large clock to go in the center of the gym floor using cut-out numbers placed on poly spots and cones and cut out hands for the hands of the clock to give the students a point of reference. Place a sign with different movement skills on them in the corners of the gym (ex. jog, skip, walk, grapevine, gallop, jump, leap). Alternate telling the students to begin moving clockwise/counterclockwise using the skill that is on the sign closest to them. Then have the students apply the math skills of addition and subtraction to the clock.
