People Patterns
People Patterns
Description:
The study of patterns is an important underlying foundation for later study of algebra, and indeed for all of mathematics. This on-line activity invites students to try to figure out who should come next in a line of people, based on some combination of attributes (such as height, color of clothes, etc.) The difficulty can be varied by changing the number of people who are initially given. Additional challenges can be found by clicking on the navigation bar at the top of the window, but this was our favorite for young children.
