Cynthia Lanius' Lessons: Rent a Car: 6-8 Connections
Description:
This resource is provided from Cynthia Lanius' Homepage through Rice University. Rent-a-Car is an activity designed to use a real-world situation to illustrate linear functions. Further, it connects problem solving with real-world experiences. Students are allowed to work individually or in groups. The students must read a problem situation, make tables and graphs, analyze the graphs, write functions and paragraphs. Students need to analyze all of their information to help the Green family decide which rent-a-car plan would be best for their family vacation. Students must make connections between many math skills in order to derive a logical answer.
