People Patterns Grades Pre-K-2 Reasoning and Proof
People Patterns Grades Pre-K-2 Reasoning and Proof
Description:
This site comes from The Annenberg/CPB partnership which was created to improve K-12 education through the use of the Web and digital satellite technology. This on-line activity provides students with an interesting challenge: to try to figure out who should come next in a line of people, based on some combination of attributes (such as height, color of clothes, etc.) In addition to building their problem solving and reasoning abilities, students will be engaged in a study of patterns, an important underlying foundation for later study of algebra, and indeed for all of mathematics. The ability to view comments from other problem-solvers is a big plus. Additional challenges can be found by clicking on the navigation bar at the top of the window, but this was a favorite for young children.
