Hugo Gellert's Seward Park Murals

Description:
As teachers, historians and artists, we share a responsibility to educate students and communities in the value of our public art. The Seward Park murals, painted by Hugo Gellert in the 1950s in the Lower East Side of New York City, depict several great thinkers in American history. The site includes a short lesson plan that aims to reintegrate the Gellert murals into the daily life of the Lower East Side.
