Freedom Hero: Osceola
Freedom Hero: Osceola
Description:
This My Hero project is about Osceola, who was a leader of the Seminole tribe in Florida who went to war rather than sell tribal land to the U.S. Governemnt in 1832. He was finally captured when the U.S. general waved a flag of truce and began peace talks, then imprisoned Osceola during the talks to the outrage of Americans and Seminoles alike. My Hero is an interactive educational project for children, families, teachers and librarians that encourages use of the Internet as a positive and rewarding educational experience. It uses new communications technologies, in combination with traditional and non-traditional information sources, to promote critical thinking regarding the meaning and impact of heroes and heroism. MY HERO is an interactive site made for the entire family. At the heart of this Internet site is the belief that there are, and always have been, good people and positive role models in every aspect of our daily lives.
