MY HERO is an interactive site made for the entire family. At the heart of this Internet site is the belief that there are and always have been, good people and positive role models in every aspect of our daily lives. Maria Montessori was such a person. Against all odds, she defied convention and became a doctor instead of a housewife. She started working with disabled children and used a new approach to teaching them. She later used this approach on normal children. Her premise was that learning was not memorizing, but sensing and experiencing things. This new approach to teaching gave rise to the Montesssori method that is used today.
