MY HERO is an interactive site made for the entire family. At the heart of this Internet site is the belief that there are and always have been, good people and positive role models in every aspect of our daily lives. Helen Keller was such a person. Having lost her senses of sight and sound at a very early age, she nevertheless learned to speak, in addition to reading and writing braille. She was a remarkable scholar,who graduated with honors. She became a suffragette and a socialist, demanding equal rights for women and better pay for working class people. She also set up the American Foundation for the Blind in order to provide better services to people with impaired vision.
