MY HERO is an interactive site made for the entire family. At the heart of this Internet site is the belief that there are and always have been, good people and positive role models in every aspect of our daily lives. Langston Hughes was such a person. Through his poetry he gave a voice to the African American experience, and made the world see that black America has a culture that was rich, vibrant and fiercely poetic. This was his life's mission and earned him a place among the greatest poets of America. He received fellowships from Guggenheim and Rosenwald, and was nicknamed the "Poet Laureate of Harlem."
