At the heart of this Internet site is the belief that there are and always have been, good people and positive role models in every aspect of our daily lives. Chico Mendes was a hero and role model. He fought courageously to oppose the destruction of the Amazon rain forests by cattle ranchers and mining interests, and was killed for his efforts. Chico Mendes displayed courage and heroism.
