This My Hero project is about Elizabeth Jane Cochrane, who wrote for newspapers under the name Nellie Bly, brought public awareness to social injustice and traveled around the world in 72 days. My Hero is an interactive educational project for children, families, teachers and librarians that encourages use of the Internet as a positive and rewarding educational experience. It uses new communications technologies, in combination with traditional and non-traditional information sources, to promote critical thinking regarding the meaning and impact of heroes and heroism. MY HERO is an interactive site made for the entire family. At the heart of this Internet site is the belief that there are, and always have been, good people and positive role models in every aspect of our daily lives.
