Long before the tragic events of September 11th where terrorist used jetliners as bombs, the airline industry was experiencing serious financial problems. During the past year, those woes have deepened and many industry leaders are scrambling to find ways to stop the bleeding. Increase fares or cut costs? Add perks or eliminate them all together? Yet despite the huge losses, a few airlines are showing a profit. This case study will look at the various business decisions being considered or implemented by the Big 6 and the smaller regional airlines.
