Phil's Garden of Good

Description:
The learners discover the joy of sharing something beautiful and recognize the beauty that flowers can add to our world. The students deliver artistic flowerpots with nurtured plants to senior friends along with leaf-print personalized notes. The students will understand the care needed to grow and nurture flowers. They will also learn that sharing their invested time and talent with others is an act of philanthropy. The relationships established with the master gardener, volunteers and the senior recipients have the potential for a long-term extension of the unit. Additional flowers add color to selected areas of the community. A student-made book of the philanthropic act becomes a “treasure” to put in libraries around the community.
