Kids Can Make a Difference
Kids Can Make a Difference
Description:
In this unit, the students develop a pen-pal relationship with a classroom in a community that is ostensibly very different from their own. As they communicate about their community, interests and other issues, they learn that they have much in common. The two groups work cooperatively to collect canned goods for their local communities. Then they each plan and implement a service-learning project. The students reflect on the role of the long distance and communication through writing on the success of their project.
