This is the second chapter of the Florida Center for Instructional Technology teachers' guide entitled: "An Educator's Guide to School Networks". It describes the following protocols, or sets of rules that govern the communications between computers on a network: Ethernet, LocalTalk, Token Ring, FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface), and ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode).
