Thomas Day Education Project: Disseminating African-American History and Culture Across the Curriculum

The Thomas Day Education Project is a curriculum and professional development initiative focused on improving the teaching of African-American history and culture at the elementary and middle grades nationwide. We are affiliated with the NCCU Foundation and have received major funding from the NEH. We offer educational media resources including the interactive multimedia CD-ROM, Exploring the World of Thomas Day. Thomas Day (1801-1861), a free African American cabinetmaker (fine furnituremaker) and businessman, lived and worked in Caswell County, North Carolina from the early 1820's to the early 1860's.
