This web site is the result of a public and private partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, all 50 states, and several committed organizations and companies. It puts geographically specific information about recycling programs at the user's fingertips. If visitors to the web site want to find out where the nearest recycling center is, they click on the state in which they live and enter their zip code. After clicking on the material (i.e., plastic) they want to recycle, they will get the name, address, and phone number of the nearest recycling center that accepts that material. This site also talks about and explains the three "Rs" of protecting the environment: reduce, reuse, and recycle. There is information for educators and parents about identifying and buying recycled products, and handling and disposing of hazardous household waste. There is a section designed especially for children. In this section, a cartoon character named Handy guides and gives ideas for recycling different products.
