Essay Punch helps students already familiar with writing a paragraph begin to write a short essay. With this easy-to-use software, students improve their writing by learning the techniques of expository writing -- to persuade, inform, or describe. Choosing from a menu of topics, students are motivated to develop an idea and write their own short essay, consisting of an introduction, a two- to three-paragraph body, and a conclusion. Steps to finished essays include prewriting, outlining, organizing, editing, rewriting, and publishing. Students' completed essays can be transferred to their own disks or to a word processing program. Teachers can monitor their students' progress in the record management system.
