The Living Edens - Etosha: The Big Hideout
Description:
In this lesson, students visit Etosha National Park in northwestern Namibia to study the ways plants and animals adapt to their environments. Students will: - identify the camouflage used by some of the animals in the Etosha pan - construct an "animal" that uses protective coloration, mimicry, or patterns to prevent detection - compare the effect of a camouflage pattern in a new situation. The lesson provides a list of materials needed, estimated time, teaching strategies, and assessment recommendations, as well as extensions/adaptations.
