Paper Clip Sailing

Description:
In this lesson, students learn that some objects can float and stay on top of the water because of surface tension (the skin-like surface created by water molecules). They learn that, if something disturbs this skin-like surface, the water molecules tug on each other and the skin-like surface breaks up. They also learn that floating objects will sink if the surface tension gets interrupted.
