Blanche Pope’s Accelerated School Project: What a Difference a Year Makes

Description:
The Accelerated Schools Project was established by Dr. Henry M. Levin and his colleagues at Stanford University. Its goal was to enable all students to enter secondary school "in the educational mainstream." Rather than lowering expectations for at-risk students, educators at Blanche Pope School implemented challenging and stimulating activities in an effort to earn the Accelerated Schools designation. This paper describes the successful process undertaken at this Hawai`i school.
