GEM Name Authority File (NAF) Policy

In order to bring the GEM Application Profile schema version 2.0 (AP-2) into conformance with the "one-to-one" metadata principle in Dublin Core, elements describing contact information for agents («creator», «contributor» «publisher» and «cataloging») were deprecated. AP-2 provides the means for "including" such contact information in GEM records by referencing external "name authority files" (NAF). At this time, GEM does not maintain a NAF of its own but technically supports URI referencing (URIref) of such files maintained by recognized authorites.
