duration

Element Semantics (Definition)

The recommended time or number of sessions needed to effectively use the entity being described.

General

  • Name:  duration
  • Label:  Duration
  • Namespace:  http://purl.org/gem/elements/
  • Registration Authority:  GEM Consortium
  • Notes:  None

Best Practices

  1. The Duration element refers to the length of time necessary to the effective use of the resource as a teaching/learning device.
  2. Do not use the Duration element to record the literal duration of the resource–e.g., the actual 50 minutes of a video. Rather, record the time needed to effectively use that video in the learning environment.
