Stuart A. Sutton is Associate Professor in the Information School of the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. He is Director of Education Digital Library Initiatives in the Information Institute of Syracuse (IIS) and leads research and development for the U.S. Department of Education’s Gateway to Educational Materials (GEM). He serves on the Usage and Advisory Boards of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative and as co-chair of the Initiative’s Education Working Group. He received his MLIS and PhD degrees from the University of California at Berkeley School of Library and Information Studies (now School of Information). He received his Juris Doctor (JD) from Golden Gate University School of Law and his Master of Laws (LLM) in copyright from the University of California at Berkeley: Boalt Hall School of Law.
